Hand Carved African Ebony & Whitewood Chess Set With Big Five Board, Masterpiece

This striking hand-carved African chess set is a true celebration of craftsmanship and cultural storytelling. Expertly sculpted by skilled African artisans using traditional carving techniques, the set combines the rich darkness of Mpingo (African ebony) with the warm, natural tones of contrasting white wood, creating a beautiful visual balance between the two sides. Each chess piece is intricately detailed, representing scenes of African life and wildlife. The set features tribal nomads both men and women alongside giraffes, huts, and symbolic cultural elements, transforming every match into a display of art and heritage.

The chessboard itself is equally impressive, a circular wooden board with decorative carved edges featuring two of Africa’s Big Five animals: the elephant and the rhinoceros. The board’s sculptural quality makes the entire set suitable not only for play but also as a decorative centerpiece also making this chess set a unique collectible, cultural artwork, and functional game all in one.
