African Mask, Male Baule Fertility Mask.

The artist faithfully replicates the fertility mask of the Baule people of Cote d’Ivoire. He carves the sese wood mask by hand with male features including a beard and scarification on the cheeks and forehead. The mask is worn during special festivities for a good harvest.
