Impressive Rare Wooden Hand Carved Shetani Sculpture, Fine Art

African Art Shetani Sculpture

This exquisite wooden Shetani sculpture showcases intricate hand-carving, capturing the mystique and depth of traditional art. Shetani style wood carvings (“devil” in Swahili) are expressions of Makonde mythology and spirits. This style uses the appearance of other worldly physical traits, such as large distorted facial or body features, and sometimes animals to signify the spirit realm. The essence of Shetani is thought to take five forms: human, mammal, fish, bird and reptile – this sculpture is the human with “mother’s breasts” and animal form. Crafted from rich, durable wood, the sculpture features bold, expressive details that highlight the Shetanis powerful presence. The artisan’s meticulous attention to texture and form brings this enigmatic figure to life, making it a captivating centerpiece for any collection.

This stunning sculpture is a true masterpiece that will add a touch of elegance to any room. Crafted by the talented artist Shetani, this piece is a rare and impressive addition to any art collection. Its intricate details and striking design make it a true conversation starter.
